Our
Mission
Sanctuary is a four-day, deeply immersive retreat designed specifically for tenured Black professionals hosted at a founder-owned estate.
Our mission is to create a nourishing, strategic space for Black corporate leaders to restore, reimagine, and rise, without having to fragment who they are.

The
Experience
Sanctuary provides an urgently needed environment for restoration, connection, and strategic clarity.
Each retreat offers four days of culturally grounded coaching, nourishing hospitality, and deep community in an environment intentionally free of code-switching or performance. Virtual sessions before and after each retreat help sustain the connection and growth long after you return home.

Our Community
Sanctuary was created as a refuge for Black leaders navigating the unique pressures of corporate life. It’s more than a retreat, it’s a space to restore your energy, deepen your leadership, and connect with a community that understands your journey.
If you see yourself in the statements below, you belong at Sanctuary:
Our Vision
Our vision is to reshape leadership by investing in the whole person. Because when Black leaders thrive holistically, companies, communities, and cultures are transformed. Sanctuary reimagines leadership development for Black professionals by centering focus, identity, and collective joy.
We see Sanctuary as a living network spanning industries, geographies, and generations—a place where culture, career, community, and care converge.
In five years, Sanctuary will be more than a retreat. It will be a homecoming for Black professionals who often feel scattered or siloed, a global ecosystem where a product leader in Atlanta can collaborate with a marketing executive in Lagos, a founder in Oakland, or a creative director in London and feel unshakable kinship. Alumni will not just reconnect, they will re-anchor in solidarity, pride, and shared purpose, grounded in the nuances of the Black professional experience.
Sharpened Vision.
Restored Spirit. Uncompromising Impact.
About
Us

Tim & Utaukwa
Black corporate leaders are navigating high levels of stress and uncertainty. They deserve a supportive environment to be seen and to grow.
We want to create an experience that not only helps Black leaders feel seen and supported, but also gives them tools to navigate their day-to-day demands with more clarity and intention.
From the moment participants are welcomed into their cohort, they begin building meaningful bonds. Bonds that are nurtured before the experience, deepened during the experience, and sustained long after the retreat. Through guided reflection, joyful movement, restorative practices, and honest conversation, Sanctuary offers what so many of us have lacked: a space to lead without armor.

Cass Cruz
Cass Cruz is a life and leadership coach and the founder of Nova Coaching, where she helps people—especially those from historically marginalized communities—reconnect to their values and lead with care and confidence. Drawing on years of corporate leadership experience with brands like Harvard and Bose, Cass understands both the pressure and possibility of showing up fully as yourself in high-performance environments. Her work is also informed by her training in somatics, trauma-informed care, and inclusive-space holding and by coaching hundreds of individuals and teams, including leaders from organizations like Converse.
Through Nova and now Sanctuary, Cass creates spaces for reflection, restoration, and renewal—where Black leaders can release what no longer serves them, reclaim their power, and rise with intention. Her approach is rooted in the belief that grounded, compassionate leadership creates a ripple effect—transforming not just how we work, but how we live and lead in community.
